In keeping with popular taste and their stylistic tradition, Columbia introduced the “BG” model to appeal to the upper-class. It was among the select few models presented in a mahogany case featuring smooth, rounded columns and a built-up top with molding at the base. Both the bedplate and the upper works were extensively nickel-plated. The long mandrel can play both the new “3” minute “20th Century” records and the standard 4-inch cylinders offered by Columbia.
This particular “BG” has been professionally restored to its original specifications, making it as good as, if not better than, new. It boasts an impressive visual appeal with its exquisite nickel plating and the striking mahogany case. The graphophone operates wonderfully when wound. The “BG” model is equipped with a robust four-spring motor that can play a multitude of cylinders. It’s a beautiful and coveted machine that would be a highlight in any home.
