Emile Berliner, the inventor of the gramophone, transformed the recording industry with his use of flat discs over the traditional wax cylinders. Among his creations is this machine, which shares similarities with the less common and highly sought-after Victor machines. Manufactured in Canada, the Berliner Gram-O-Phone Disc Phonograph Type B, also known as the “Ideal,” was produced from 1904 to 1906. This particular model is part of the Berliner Gramophone Company’s series, which also includes models like the Model A. The model “B” showcased here is an outstanding specimen with a striking appearance, seemingly well-maintained and in its original condition. Finding a finer example of a Berliner machine would be a challenge. The crank is not pictured but included. For additional details, please refer to the pictures or inquire further.
