This is an exceptional example of the Victor Model E “Rigid Arm” phonograph — one of the most desirable and short‑lived configurations produced by the Victor Talking Machine Company in the early 1900s. Introduced around 1902, the Model E served as Victor’s mid‑level external‑horn machine, but only a small portion of production featured the distinctive rear‑mount rigid tonearm seen here. This transitional design was manufactured for a brief period before Victor shifted to the tapered arm and rebranded the line as the Victor II, making surviving rigid‑arm examples increasingly scarce.
This machine retains all original parts, including the correct horn and matching elbow, both of which are in excellent condition — a rarity in today’s market, as these components were often swapped, damaged, or lost over the last century. The cabinet displays its original patina, with the honest, untouched finish that advanced collectors value far more than refinished surfaces. Mechanically, the motor has been professionally rebuilt for smooth, reliable performance, and all other components have been cleaned, oiled, and properly serviced. The result is a machine that both displays beautifully and plays with the strong, resonant sound Victor machines are known for.
