Description:

Columbia “S” Coin Operated Phonograph. Early Model!!

This vintage coin-operated phonograph stands as a prized possession for both collectors and enthusiasts. Dating back to around 1898, this early “AS” model is particularly rare due to its “S” ID tag, a carryover from an earlier version, making it a challenge to find and increasing its appeal. Its black enameled chassis, echoing the famous “New York” Type “A” phonograph, is beautifully decorated with red flowers and gold stems, enhancing its classic elegance. Beneath the bedplate lies a single spring gear-driven motor, accessible through the hinged front panel of the cabinet. While the machine has been restored to working order, the spring that resets it may sometimes need a slight nudge. The coin mechanism, however, works impeccably, providing users with a smooth operation. It is important to note that the locks do not come with a key. This early and scarce machine will be meticulously packed in two boxes to guarantee its protection during shipping. Should you have any inquiries or require additional details, feel free to contact us. This is a rare chance to acquire a remarkable artifact of history.
