Columbia Model “N- Bijou” Spring Motor Graphophone.
This early Graphophone model, produced around 1895/1896, is in excellent condition and is highly sought after for its rarity. It succeeded the larger “Spring Motor” machines, such as the Edison class “M,” and was among the first to incorporate the Tainter and Bell Patents. Despite its significant price at the time—approximately $40, equivalent to a month’s wages—it was intended for family use. The machine is an impressive display item, with the casing in outstanding condition, except for a small chip on the lid. The original decal is still intact, adding to its charm. The motor runs smoothly and appears to be fully operational, with the nickel plating still in exceptional condition after more than 120 years. The complete motor reveals the clockwork mechanism, as depicted in the photographs, and includes the original crank, reproducer, and a black funnel horn. This Graphophone is a distinguished and uncommon collectible, offering a unique chance for enthusiasts. If you have any inquiries, please feel free to ask.
