This is a handsome example of Elgin’s respected B.W. Raymond line—an 18‑size, 19‑jewel railroad‑grade pocket watch built for accuracy and reliability during the golden age of American timekeeping. Recently professionally serviced, it starts promptly, runs strong, and keeps excellent time.
The watch is housed in a clean 20‑year yellow gold‑filled case that shows no wear‑through, retaining its smooth surfaces and warm, classic appearance. The case opens and closes properly, and the crown winds and sets with the solid feel expected from a well‑preserved railroad watch.
The dial is a very attractive double‑sunk Arabic enamel dial, bright and crisp with bold numerals and matching blued hands. A single micro hairline is present between the 1 and 2 hour markers, but it is extremely faint and only noticeable when specifically looking for it under close inspection. Overall, the dial presents beautifully and complements the movement perfectly.
