Description:

Edison Home Cylinder Phonograph – Original 2‑Minute Model, Restored

This early Edison Home Phonograph is a beautifully preserved example of one of Edison’s most iconic cylinder machines. Built more than a century ago, it showcases the classic longcase design, sturdy construction, and warm acoustic character that made the Home one of Edison’s most successful models.

This particular machine is an original 2‑minute version, equipped to play standard black wax cylinders with smooth, steady performance. It retains its factory cylinder shaving attachment, a feature found only on early Homes and now increasingly difficult to find intact. The machine is fitted with the correct Edison Model C reproducer, providing clear, authentic playback of 2‑minute records. The phonograph has undergone a careful, expert mechanical restoration, including a full motor service, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment. It now runs with the strong, reliable operation these machines were known for when new. The cabinet presents beautifully, maintaining its original finish and the honest patina collectors value. Included is a 14‑inch black‑and‑brass reproduction horn, which complements the machine’s period look and offers excellent acoustic projection.

This is a fine, display‑ready example of an early Edison Home—historically significant, mechanically confident, and ready to be enjoyed for years to come.
