Regina Style 26 Oak “Coffin Top” Music Box

This American Regina Style 26 Oak “Coffin Top” music box (made in 1898) is equipped with a dual comb mechanism and a brass bedplate, bearing the serial number 31763. Crafted from intricately carved oak, it showcases turned bracket columns, molded frame sides, and elegantly carved bracket feet. As one of the largest and most luxurious offerings from Regina, this music box features a design that allows the music disc to be played when opened, and it can be compactly folded back for storage. Distinct from other Regina models, this tabletop version is unique in that it reduces in size when the lid is closed. Officially designated as Style 26, it is often referred to as an accordion case, folding case, or casket case Regina. Produced in limited quantities, the accordion case Regina is highly sought after by collectors. The ornate casing was available in both oak and mahogany, with the oak version being particularly rare due to its limited production. Regina promoted the combs as capable of producing over seven octaves. This model is one of only two styles designed with a double comb and single strike mechanism. This exquisite piece has been meticulously maintained over the years, presenting in excellent original condition. All components, including the teeth and mechanics, are in superb shape. This is undoubtedly one of the finest Regina Music Boxes we have encountered, complete with eight (8) discs. Measures 29 inches length by 20.5 inches wide by 10.5 inches tall. Any questions, feel free to ask!
